DVS 13 FRIDAY 30:11:07 /// THE KITS (AUSTRALIA) / RIFLE FIRE RIFLE / DUKES IN JAIL / MERMAN

Death Via Satellite is a rocktacular, electro/new wave/indie night that holds court once a month in Eamonn Dorans, Dublin. The night is brought to you by MENDOZA, Dublin's new-wave/rock/indie/electro hybrid, bringing the best bands to you with minimum fuss and maximum noise

After 10 great shows on Tuesday nights, where we've already seen the likes of Love Lies Sleeping (L.A., USA), Queen Kong, alazurussoul, Mendoza, The Ultra Montanes, Kopek, mojoFURY, Fight Like Apes, DC Pakt, Orphan Code & Stagger Lee play storming shows, we've moved to Friday nights so that hangover can be dealt with on a Saturday in bed rather than Wednesday in work...

Our next show is Friday 30th November in Eamonn Dorans, line up includes a special guest headline appearance from Australian band THE KITS who play for the first time in Dublin at DVS 13. Dublin's At The Drive-In prototypes RIFLE FIRE RIFLE (ex Jessica Insane) keep the stage warm for The Kits, glamrock merchants DUKES IN JAIL and Sonic Youth infused MERMAN open proceedings with DJ's TOY DISCO taking over from 11.30 with a heady mix of electro & indie for all...

    THE KITS (Melbourne, Australia)
All the way from Melbourne. Australia, The Kits are a wild celebration of 60's garage rock’n'roll. Their spearing guitars, pounding rhythms, howling vocals and feverish live shows have enabled them to become the perfect soundtrack to the last great party of your life. Simply put, they blow the roof off. The Kits feed off the sounds of the Von Bondies, the Stooges, BRMC, the Veils, Kings of Leon and Television, spitting out tales of crime, sex, excess and indulgence.

They've shared stages with the likes of Wolfmother, The Saints, Howling Bells and Diamond Nights and have enjoyed major television appearances and radio play in their home country and abroad. Currently based in London, where their shows have been in huge demand, 2007 also saw them embarking on their first US tour. This weekend is their debut on Irish soil, be the first to experience their swaggered ‘don’t f*ck with me’ sound up close and in your face.

    RIFLE FIRE RIFLE
Rifle Fire Rifle are an aggressive but tuneful 3 piece from Dublin. They cite influences that include Manic Street Preachers, Fugazi and At The Drive-In, which shines through the brightest in describing their hi-octane sound. Phil and Rob from RFR toured the UK in 2003 as Jessica Insane and had labels such as Fierce Panda, Mercury and Parlophone sniffing around before breaking up shortly afterwards. Rifle Fire Rifle are their new incarnation and will be bothering the radio waves soon enough with their powerful guitar crunch and massive choruses as their debut single The Doppler Effect is released in January…

    DUKES IN JAIL
Formed from the same primordial soup as previous band Wet Love, this Dublin/Meath outfit trade on searing 80’s glam metal hooks and vocals and could beat the devil and Daniel Johnson (and most others) over a guitar duel… School is in session, Dukes In Jail are lecturing from their pyrotechnic pulpit and this is one lesson where you’ll certainly end up hot for teacher…

    MERMAN
Merman are Dublin based no-wave bluster, where early-Sonic Youth style abrasiveness and understated melody meets Pavement like alt-indie dynamics to open proceedings in style. Their innate talent for shaping their sound around vocals that are both immediate and arresting has to be experienced so arrive early to witness their happening at DVS 13…

Doors open at 8.45, admission a palrty €8. DJ’s til late beaming in rock/electro/indie/new wave/post punk so come early for the bands, stay late for drinking, dancing, debauchery and Death Via Satellite...
