Whiskey Tasting

Is there anywhere that you can go in Dublin and do whiskey tasting? Not try some cheap jameson type of show, but one for better whiskies?

I'd love to try the full bushmills range, but I can't afford to spend €100+ a bottle just to taste them, and the pubs that sell them are few and far between (and charge an arm and a leg for a measure of them).

So is there anywhere that you can taste several good whiskies without paying an exhorbitant price for them?

Or is the idea that unless you can afford to pay top dollar you shouldn't be allowed to try the good stuff?

They have a Whiskey Corner at the far end of the ground floor bar in the Bull & Castle with what looks like an impressive collection. Ask for Geoff: that man knows his whiskey.

The Celtic Whiskey Shop run tastings occasionally - not that often these days, though.

Also, there's a couple of guys in the shop that do it privately, in the Bull and Castle, I believe.

Call into the shop and they'll tell you all about it.

You can taste most good whiskeys in the better hotel bars and pay by the glass.
By the way there aren't many in the Bushmills range that are €100+ !!

Yeah, that's true. The only ones above that price are the Bushmills 1975, Bushmills 1985, Bushmills Artist's Reserve and the Bushmills 21 - as well as some single cask bottlings done for various places.
