Im looking to get a good sound card, as my onboard has decided to be terrible and the connections are even breaking.

I will use it for mainly music on Logitech Z-2300's and my audiophile sennheiser HD595's.

It also needs to work with vista, as its brutal for soundcard support, so any advice would be great. MUCH APPRECIATED ! ! !:D

 The sound is great, the same as in Xp, but its the software & control panel that dont work, ie you only get the basic audio console. But i'm sure Creative ill get it sorted in a yr or 2, their driver support is terrible.

Unfortunately Vista's DX10 DirectSound3D meant that EAX (The cool environmental audio processing effects) was not available anymore. Plus other cool sound features.

However in recent times Creative have released Alchemy which brings back all the cool stuff. http://connect.creativelabs.com/alchemy/default.aspx

Some games are using OpenAL for sound though and these are fully compatible with X-Fi.

Alchemy software is free to X-Fi users but not sure about Audigy 2 and earlier.
