    Hi folks,

I'm gonna get myself an aerial soon for the terrestrial channels, and i'm not 100% sure which one of these transmitters to go for; i'm in the ashbourne area. Judging by the maps at irish-tv.com, I should be able to receive both, but I wanna make sure to pick the one that has the strongest signal. Anyone got any practical experience of picking these up in the ashbourne area? Would be very grateful if anyone can help me!

    Thanks,

    Kevin

You should be able to pick up both in Ashbourne. I'd suggest Claremount as it is more powerful. But I don't think you should have much trouble picking up either

thanks for the prompt reply dkane....one more thing i forgot to ask...is there any good suppliers around meath/dublin area of group c/d aerials? I can get wideband ones no problem in argos or maplin, but am finding it hard to find a supplier of group c/d!

    Thanks

If you go for Clermont Carn you could also add a higher gain A Group aerial as well and get TV from Belfast as well. You would need a group combiner between the two aerials which would take the lower UHF channels from the Divis(Belfast) aerial and the higher channels from the Clermont aerial and combine them for your TV's. This won't work if the Irish aerial is pointing to Threerock as Threerock also uses some of the lower frequency channels!

thanks for the reply dave....to be honest i'm only really worried about receiving the irish channels, as I've installed freesat boxes at all 5 tellies, so I get all the bbcs and itvs etc anyway. Just need to sort something out for the irish channels. Thanks for the advice though. Looks like claremont carn is the one to go for, so now all i need to sort out is an aerial supplier!
    Any ideas anyone?!

    Thanks

"have it right now" - Maplins have a decent range these days but they are not cheap.

I'd be interested myself to know if anyone around sells a wide range of well priced aerials! It would be nice to be able to just go and pick one up but cpconline.ie do seem to have a large selection of grouped aerials if you are interested in buying online.

excellent....never heard of them before but they have a huge range so will probably end up purchasing there. Thinking i'll probably go for a triax; they seem to have a very good rep!
