Hi, I have friends in the UK who want to put on a gig here in Dublin next year. They want to look for a venue with 100/150 capacity thats obviously not a dump.

    Any suggestions ?

Also how big a thing is it to arrange this, I presume a deposit or something is paid to the venue ? Or just a flat fee is paid to the venue ?

All info and suggestions greatly appreciated, they're in the UK and want me to look into this so I just wanna try and not go in blind.

Obvious venues that come to mind are Crawdaddy (prob too big), The Hub ? Kennedys ?

    Hello,

Well firstly venue I don't recommend.

Voodoo - tooo out of the way. Trust me just not worth it. Bit of a dump too.
Hub - this is quite a big venue really. and stinks of bleach.
Anything involving an individual called Paddy Fogarty is definitely worth avoiding. This guy does not care about music he just wants the money and has ripped off too many with massive depoisits. And gear has magically disappeared at his gigs too.

    I would recommend:

Boom Boom Room - absolutely love this place. just at the top of o connell street, and it's not that pricey at all. Sound guy is very good too. It's like a sitting room.

Dorans - part of me hates this place and part loves it. It's in temple bar and it cheapish I think to rent out.

Although I would say the Boom boom room is one of the coolest venues in town and i would highly recommend it.
