Most Frequently Asked Questions - http://www.piab.ie/faq.html

Q 10. How much will I receive for my injury?
A: Each claim for compensation is different and the specific details of each case are reviewed by PIAB assessors. Assessors will make reference to the Book of Quantum.

Thanks for that Subway, however it still would be nice to hear from those who have actually had or have not had any success with PIAB and their experiance with the process since the book of quantum you refer to in your link is somewhat dated as its the 2004 edition

Given that the injury happened two years ago you may be statute barred at this stage if you have not already notified PIAB.

The book of quantum is a good indicator of compensation but every award is different. What I have found in the past is that PIAB then not to handle scarring injuries or cases involving minors for the most part.

Has your employer admitted liability yet? If he does not then PIAB will not be involved in settling the case, you will have to go down the road of issuing proceedings through a solicitor once PIAB have given you the release form.

I put the claim in Via Piab but they eventually gave me a release form to seek compensation via the courts as my employer did not respond to any of their letters. My solicitor has now just got a motion for defense issued giving my employer 3 weeks to come up with their defense. Its like playing a game of tennis, I keep hitting the ball into their court but they never seem to respond by hitting the ball back
