    Hi gang,

I've taken these for a commisioned job (my first one!). The brief was

"I think we'll aim for three large images (maybe A3 or A2) and three smaller ones (maybe A5 or A4).

Maybe 3 simple compositions and three more elaborate. Perhaps 3 black and white shots and 3 colour. Or 3 abstract and 3 figurative.

I'm not sure what will work best as a series. I really like the wild-looking black and white seascapes but I also like the cracked painting on the old boats. Definitely having something that can be recognised as Skerries should be in there somewhere."

This is what I have taken so far, but I still have to go out and get the standard blue sky, puffy clouds seascapes.
I would really appreciate C&C on these if you could take the time

    Hi Paul,

How are you keeping? (t-hughha here!).

Some really nice pictures there... I like the daytime windmill and the old bakery cart ones the best, I don't know skerries, but I'm guessing they are pretty iconic of the place. I also like the one with the chain, it's a lovely composition and would look fantastic framed.

Of course this is my opinion as a consumer rather than a producer as I wouldn't know where to start from a technical perspective.

You detail ones are very nice - the chain and the rope. Very nice indeed. You have plenty to present in those.

Where you are struggling a bit is in the wider ones. The Mills ones show potential but I think the angle is a bit off. Not sure what the landscape and access are like in that area, but try to get some from a different angle other than head-one. Also - the night shots are a good idea, but try adjusting the aperture so that less light is getting in and causing the overexposure.

I think once you've nailed the wider shots and have a few to choose from, you'll have met the rather loose set of requirements you've been given nicely.

    Nice work.

thanks Mark, agree on the Mills ones, but it was at 8 o'clock on Saturday morning, so the place wasn't open and I couldn't get close access. I went out that early to try to get some sunrise over the harbour, but it was raining. I definitely have another trip to make, will need to wait for a blue sky sunny day

Really like the effects you used on the lifesaver image, compared to the 'before' image.

I'd like to have seen some more images of the beat-up boats with a bit more of them in the shot. :)

yeah, I'd like some of them myself, but i don't know if the tide goes out enough in the harbour to get near them, and I wasn't going in the water:D

I think I might have to go to a different harbour and cheat a little!

    Thanks for the comments
