    Touchscreen might just need recalibration.

Turn on the DS without a cartridge in it, and click the icon with a picture of the DS on it (very bottom of screen, in the middle). Then click the yellow crosshair icon. Follow the instructions and see if it helps.

It might need to be replaced.. Try above first though! if you are comfortable enough opening things its not that hard. The problem is that the ds takes a certain type of screw driver (a trigram) like this one

Heres a link to a replacement screen for the old style

I ordered one of them ages ago and they sent me the wrong one, still waiting for them to send new one, but there normally very good, this is the only problem i've ever had with them.

If its the old style ds i can give you fairly decent instructions on how to take it apart if you want.

Sometimes they just need the gunk cleaned out. Get a piece of paper or a business card and slide it under the edges of the "frame" around the touch screen and clear out the dirt and stuff that gets in there.
