    Hi,
Rather than buying a dedicated nas box I was thinking I might use a personal computer instead with 3 or 4 500GB drives.

I also want to build a HTPC computer. Is there anyway I could integrate these at all.

Also, I am looking for a amp to power bowers and wilkins vm1s and an as1 woofer. What should I be looking at? Would a €200 budget amp (samsung or something) be ok?

Yes just choose whatever case you like that supports the amount of harddrive you want, and then get a suitable motherboard, cpu, ram, psu etc

Building one myself at the moment. Would be cool to have a big NAS but im just building a htpc with a load of harddrives instead.

The thing that was concerning me was noise. Would it not be very noisy with all those disks?

Out of interest what case are you using that will allow you to have lots of hard disks?

well i went for a tower case

    http://www.drivecity.de/product_info.php/info/p155599_ATX-Midi-Antec-P182-gun-metal-black--ohne-Netzteil-.html/Query/p182/imageField_x/0/imageField_y/0/act/search

It has 6 harddrive bays, but you can convert some of the dvd drive bays into harddrive bays if you wanted. I'll have 5*500gb sata harddrives (have 3 in my current pc).

but you can get nice looking htpc cases aswell that support around 5/6 harddrives

Hopefully I get the rest of the parts I've ordered this week and have it built by next weekend. And i'll see how noisy it is then.

    Basically mine will be:
    p182 case
q6600 processor (thats overkill for a htpc, but i want it for encoding to xvid etc and watching satellite HD)
    2gb ram
gigabyte ds3r motherboard (has optical out as far as i know, so will connect it the dvd player which has optical in)
    thermalright ultra extreme 120 cooler
    3 scythe fans
8500gt ( has HD hardware acceleration, so watching HD stuff doesnt fully depend on the processor, have this in my current pc)
    5*500gb harddrives
DVD Burner and normal dvd drive
Skystar HD ( high definition satellite pci card)

and then will have pc connected to my lcd
