    Hi,
I have a samsung plasma with a vga in. When I use this I get a great picture on the tv (HD).

I cannot get any sound with it. I have tried all the ports.

When I use a S-video cable the sound is fine though.

Can anyone shed any light? Thanks.

Well a standard VGA cable doesn't carry audio. So you'll need to connect audio leads from your soundcard (onboard or separate card) to your TV. My Sammy LCD has a audio in for the VGA part. You might have something similar.

With your SVideo, do you have a red/white (or red/black) leads with it?

I was running seperate sound leads alright. I thought I tried all the inputs but I will check again to see if I can find a specific vga one.

I was running it from a dell laptop with just the one audio out. I just had it plugged into one of the ports on the back of the tv.

I think it was a left or right port but funnily enough sound seemed to be coming from both speakers.

I need a right soundcard and proper audio leads.

I would hazzard a guess that your Samsung has a stereo minijack in for audio when the VGA inout is selected. Thats whats on my Samsung anyway. So you just need a minijack to minijack cable then.

you should be able to use vga in, video, rca sound in,red or blue ,sound, try it if you have a 3,5mm to rca cable ,or just use pc speakers ,while you figure it out.3.5mm line out green, from sound card to tv.pc speaker cable goes into 3,5mm soundcard line out.rca is round 3connectors on side of tv, yellow is video in, ignore that.TAKEout composite cable, cos it stops vga signal, and stops rca signal too, i think.i have samsung hd 1080itv.

On my Samsung LCD there is an almost hidden 3.5mm jack which is used for the sound input when using VGA.
I had been trying the RCA inputs and was confused for a few days before I (don't tell anyone) picked up the manual and realised there was another port there.
Its black on a black background and hard to spot.

    Perhaps yours is the same????
