Need some help with a project I am working on. Totally new to this field so forgive me if the questions seem stupid.

Do galleries charge a fee upfront to rent the gallery or do they take commission from sales?
Would the gallery normally have a list of customers to contact for the launch or would it be best to go to a pr firm?
Can anyone recommend a good Dublin location for a photography exhibition?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Both depends which gallery you apply to.

Send your proposal directly to them and promote yourself.

    Galleries normally charge both unfortunatly.

You'll have to do 99% of the PR work yourself.

It depends on what type of exhibition it is. Group, solo, theme's and so on. There's a few places. Monster Truck is small but open to unknown names.

Thanks for the replies, I should have said as well its for an establised photographer so we are looking for a city centre location with a lot of visibility.
The one in Temple Bar Square (Temple Bar Gallery) is probably the most suitable, has anyone done or been to an exhibition there?
