Basic Laptop Recommendations

I'm looking at getting the missus a laptop for christmas.Main use would be basic admin in work(with room to potentially expand it's uses in the future),therefore something basic and decent, but not too sh1t

I'd greatly appreciate some recommendations.

he wants a basic laptop and 1gb is fine for a basic laptop for a light user. People that expect more speed can get the 2GB. And the 5315 memory can be doubled to 2GB for future expansion. +1 here - Sold a few Acers in the past 6 months....excellent machines, no problems with them.

If you have a good flow of cash you could look at an IBM Thinkpad, not very multimedia looking type laptops though they last a few centuries.

Look at the dell vostro line in the business section. Just got the 1400 and its great.

Look at the dell vostro 1000 or 1500 or the 6400 in the home section
