It's more than likely a VGA cable you're looking for, does the socket look like the attached image? You can pick up a VGA cable cheaply in any electronics shop.

You'll also need a Mini DVI - VGA adapter to plug this into your MacBook. They're available from the Apple online store or the usual Apple dealers, and cost around €25 from what I remember.

The cable doesn't transmit sound though, that'll still be coming from your MacBook's speakers unless you hook up external ones.

Speaking of Mini-DVI to VGA adaptors, I was looking for one the other day and Spectra in Grafton St. didn't have any. Apple store says they ship in 1-2 weeks  Does anyone know of anywhere in Dublin city centre that has them in stock at the moment?

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

For the record, I got the mini-DVI to VGA adaptor in Spectra yesterday, 24.99...
