After being to an Irish republican celebration tonight , and seeing what I did,
I have to wonder is the Irish republican mantra eventually making ground on its own mantle or are we gaining support from the disinfranchished with in the 26 counties

It'd be nice if you told us what you saw, so that this could be a discussion instead of a guessing session....?

"I have to wonder is the Irish republican mantra eventually making ground on its own mantle or are we gaining support from the disinfranchished with in the 26 counties"

What is the "irish republican mantra"?

I'm interested in what you mean - which I assume to mean that Sinn Fein is gaining support in Ireland from the disenfranchised: but you're not being very clear. Personally speaking, SF's politicians are among the few in Ireland I can respect, and they've often had my vote in the past.

But I'm just wondering what kind of disenfranchised, and what kind of support?

Also, it'd be nice to know the nature of the celebration, so we could differentiate between support for SF, support for "republicanism" and support for drinking and talking ****e: in the past IMHO, the three of these tend to be interpreted as the same thing, whereas in fact there's a big difference....

But also: republicanism is all about the "disenfranchised" in one way, so please, be specific and clear about what you mean...
