Philips Energy Saver bulbs at Homebase

    Popped into the Homebase in Killarney looking for ideas for new kitchen cupboards and walked out with some Philips Energy Saver bulbs 8w and 11w for €1.99 each. They are currently doing an offer of buy one 11W bulb and get another free. Amazing price - hubby paid €7 for one last week!

    Dunnes had a pack of two for 6.49, got a couple there last week.

    Apparently the cheaper ones (dunnes and tescos) have a shorter life-span and that means putting the mercury in em into the landfill sites earlier. :(

    I think Phillips' bulbs might last two or three times longer - 8/9 years.

    These were Philips bulbs, just happened to buy them in Dunnes. :)

    Yup there are Phillips ones and Dunnes still have them. 6.49 for a twin pack of 100W or 75W bulbs

    I got some energy saver lightbulbs last year, but they are a really harsh white light. Anyone know if these are a warmer colour?
