    Hi all

I'm off to Gran Canaria for 2 weeks at Chrismas and am hiring a car. I am not one for sitting on beaches and will spend most days exploring the Island. I have a Garmin 310 and am wondering is there anywhere I can get maps of the canaries for it without spending wads of cash. I looked up the Garmin site and the relevant map is a couple of hundred quid.

    Thanks in advance.

Might be cheaper to rent a sat nav unit with the car if this is a one off ? Many rental companies will offer Garmin or TomTom units.

    Thanks for the reply.

They are looking for 140 euros to hire a sat nav.

Might be wrong here but I thought the 310 had all of Europe on disk which came with your satnav, might be worth checking

Nope, the 310 only has Ire and UK. The 360 has the same features as it, except that has the European maps included

I used my Nuvi 310 in France and had no problems. I got the 310 with the European mapping including Canaries on a disc and just load what I need when I need it on the SD card

You could try and get your hands on Elsinga's Gran Canaria map.
    More details here: http://home.elsinga.net/map_spain_grancanaria.html

Probably not very detailed, but free, and better than nowt!

    Here's the map itself:

They actually contain self-installing executables, but you would need Garmin's Mapsource product installed first..

You may have received this on DVD with your GPS unit. It's also available from Garmin's website, however, without the maps on DVD, it may not be too useful.
