i diverted money i had in a fund with irish life from a bloxham irish share based fund into commodities
thing is though , while oil and gas and also prescious metals are at record levels aswell as agricultural produce , this fund is still way down this past few weeks , i asked my consultant about it and was told that all funds have been affected , baschially the commodities fund seems to have no immuity to whats happening with share markets , this to me is not only worrying but also baffling , it would seem that for my commodity fund to start performing again , the share markets must recover , im no investment expert but i would have thought commodities had some independance from financials

one of the hallmarks of the recent corrections has been its wide ranging effects. gold and other commodities, blue chip stocks have been falling with the rest. no one exactly knows why. soft commodities have been on a serious medium term uptick too so maybe its found a top. if the yen appreciates against other currencies, it allegedly softens commodity prices, beacuse the carry trade gets affected by the yen increase. all in, what ive heard, commodities will continue to increase in price so maybe just sit tight.

all the fundamentals for commodities to keep rising are sound , i think whats happening now is in many ways psychological , 20 yrs ago if the american economy was in the tank , it was inevitable that the rest of the global economy would suffer , that is not the case now , the eu has almost as big an economy as the usa and then we have china and india nowadays so the reverberations around the world now are not really reality based as the usa is the only major economy that is in poor health , but i guess confidence is crucial in market terms and its more a psychological effect than anything else
