Decemberists first album (cant think of the name, the one with here I dreamt I was an architect) (might even be their second album!)

Bloc Party - Silent Alarm, good winter music, possibly due to the sleeve picture

The Hives - the Black and White Album

Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped (first SY album I've listened to in years. Not as arty as their others, which is a very good thing)
Hank Williams - Best of (always good to have some Hank around)
Bob Mould - Body of Song (his best solo album since Workbook)
XTC - Wasp Star (I'm not a big fan of XTC, but this is a fine album)

Currently listening to stuff I normally listen to, a better question might have been what have you bought recently and how are you liking it. For me, the last few have been:
Rage Against the Machine-Self titled......Have heard bits and peices of RATM over the years, but no albums until this.Woah. Stunning lryics, and I already know about Tom, being a big Audioslave fan.
Muse-Hullabaloo......The live cd is abit underwhelming-the recording production isn't great-bit of a disapointment for a band with such a steller live rep. The b-sides cd on the otherhand, is brillant. Some real gems-prop a better cd than both Orgins of Symmetry and Showbiz, still no Absolution though.
Nine Inch Nails-With Teeth..........Saw them live a while back-stunning,best live act I've ever seen save the Foo Fighters, been meaning to pick up some albums. Great production etc as you would expect from a one man producing/playing/singing juggernaunt, but it just sounds flat compared to the live show.
Metallica-Load......Heard of this albums bad rep, but was on sale for about 3 euro in Virgin, so went for it. One of the worst albums I've ever heard- not a single song worth listening to even the once on it.

what kind of stuff is this beans?, new to me..
african funk/jazz. Fela Kuti was a nigeerian musician (think he was the trumpet player in the group) and he blended james brown (who he cited as one of his biggest influences) type funk with traditional african and afro-carribean rhythms, and stuck in a nice helping of african jazz. It sounds a million times better than I could describe it. 69 sessions is brilliant. defined a whole generation of african music.

"long live nigeria, viva africa" etcetera.

RA, early, middle or late ryan??

I'm loving the latest album and cold roses and jacksonville.

    I love country music.

Add Gram Parsons to my list. That kid was seriously talented, shame what happened.

Hot Burrito #1 is simply one of the greatest songs ever, his lyrics coupled with the vocal delivery is enough to bring tears.

Alot of the new stuff, I'm brushing up for Wednesday:D. Love the Cold Roses album but not a massive fan of JCN. Of the 3 albums he released that year 29is my favourite by a mile though, not a duff song on it. I'm finding it really hard to get into Easy Tiger though, keep putting Halloweenhead on repeat.

Might have to bring out my Gram anthology one of these days, a bit of To love somebody wouldn't go a miss

Must dig out 29, i love easy tiger, think it's a great album. Goes off to find that record now.

Oh apparently at the cardiff gig he went mental at hecklers so pipe down if you go to his shows in the future.

I'm hardly gonna pay 50 quid to heckle him but if he doesn't play Firefly I could be convinced :)
