Bandwidth limiting

Is there a way to limit bandwidth on a specific port?

I was thinking something along the lines of creating an ssh tunnel that has restricted bandwidth or something like that. Squid can do it, but it's not for http traffic that I'm thinking.

lartc.org is your friend. It's not exactly simple, but worth a read - it should be possible to do pretty much anything you want in terms of bandwidth shaping once you've grasped the concepts there.

Specifically, dive in to the howto, and check out chapter 9.

Nice one. Will do. Found cbqinit, which looked very promising, but provided no joy. I thought CBQ wasn't compiled into my kernel, but it is.

QOS is what you are looking to implement, not sure if you know that already
