NTL program guide - never works!

Does anyone else have major problems with the NTL on screen guide? I've had NTL in a few places i've lived and the guide *never* works. If you use the one that comes up when you are watching a channel, it will only show the current and next program that will be on the channel, and if you go into the main guide it either never loads the channel data, or doesn't let you see more than one day in advance!

What use is this? I know they broadcast the guide for the next WEEK, I have friends with dboxes and they have perfect channel guides with reminder and autotune.

Does anyone know why NTL's doesn't work?

The old guide is a waste of time. The new dvr guide works great and I've never had a problem but you have to pay extra for the dvr.. There is a newer box to replace the dinky which is being introduce at the moment, It uses the newer guide also. Here's a link to it

I am looking to get digital TV (probably NTL). I am also looking into recording options.
Not sure whether to get a DVD/HDD recorder or just get NTL dvr.
Are you saying that they are bringing out a new dvr? This Pace box as opposed to the present Thompson box?
Any idea when the new box will be out ?

No,Thomson make the DVR box and Pace are making the "new" standard box which runs the same epg platform as the Thomson.
The new Pace box with much improved epg is already out.

I got NTL MMDS (Digital) which I assume is mpg2 ? Why dont the Pace and Thompson boxes have a hdmi output. I got a €39 DVD player with hdmi and 1080i upscaler and the improvement in quality will do me till UPC launch HD or something similar.
