I’m currently in the market for a new lcd/plasma . I called into soundstore today and one really stuck out but I’m having problems finding it on the net to get a review.I’m after looking on the Toshiba web site but can’t find this model The salesman I was talking to told me it was Toshiba Regza 42 c 3000 pg at a price of €1399 (€1299.99)for this weekend as they're having a sale until 6 saturday. If anyone can help me out with any info on this it would be great.. He was also trying to do a deal on the tv with a stand (€230) Toshiba upscale dvd player (€85) and 1 hdmi cable (€30) = total of €1644 but for this weekend it would be €1514 would this be a good deal or would I find better out there for the money?

I have to say this tv really stuck out from the rest but it was playing a hd-dvd at the time..
    thanks

If you dont mind buying over the internet then you should try this lot
    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/7Vj4QVUmLe9llO/2/articlelist.jsp?agid=571&lid=2

They say delivery to ireland is just 30euro. You should be able to geat an upscaling dvd player for less than 85 as well i suspect. Try out komplett.ie.
Finally you can get a gold plated hdmi lead in tesco for around 10 euro. Quality isnt an issue with hdmi because digital is digital at the end of the day.

To be honest zonda I’d prefer to buy from a shop as if I had a problem with it it could turn out to be a lot of bother getting it sorted. Looking on that site I found one that looks very like it http://www2.hardwareversand.de/7VqccfPkPNeCOf/2/articledetail.jsp?aid=10554&agid=571
It would be around the same price too.

It probably was. Actually just last weekend in the paper, i saw soundstore advetising a 40" 1080p sony bravia for 1299. I must admit that would appear a better deal as the one wit the toshiba bcos i dont think that would be 1080p(full high definition). Did you see that deal??

as far as i know it is full definition.i dont remember seeing that sony offer up there either. do you think it should still be there? or was it just a thing for the weekend?

If the tosh is actually full hd then there wouldnt be much between them. That special could have been a weekend only thing so they might have been sold out. However if that offer was still available the sony would still be the one to get. Reliability would give the bravia the edge

    FYI

Bought a Tosh from UK via ebay ..saved a forutne however there was an issue with the LCD.

All got sorted out eventually however it was a long 6 week process. It got complicated because the warranty was english and shipping back etc.

Anyway, you can save a fair few quid , but it's a head wreck if you have a problem.

I saved about 40% on the price, I reckon in the end it was worth it. My wife disagrees and would drive me to sound store in future.
