Ridiculous PS3 game prices...

Don't buy new games that often for the PS3 but with Assassins Creed just out I decided to go for it.

Walked into Gamestop and they want 75 f**ing euro!! I was shocked!

I have just 2 other games and got them around the launch date. I am certain they only cost around 60e...

It was bad enough shelling out more than any other country had to for the PS3 itself but now the game prices are shooting up!??

I cannot continue to buy games for my PS3 if it's gonna cost close to 200e for 2 games!!

Is it possible it's just Assassins Creed or have the game prices really gone up? I was planning to buy GTA4 and MGS4 when they come out mid next year but there is no way thats gonna happen if they are gonna be 80e each...

/Pedantic/ Even at €75 each, thats not really that close to €200./Pedantic/

I would have thought €60-€70 in the shops.

Every first party title is 60 euro. 3rd party developers charge 70-75. Live with it.

I suppose online would be a lot cheaper but for big titles like GTA I usually prefer to buy them from a local shop... I guess I could try GAME. Haven't been to them in a long time.

movietyme seem to have slightly better prices, but longer delivery times...
I love the smug feeling you get when you're browsing through a game shop and spot a title that you just paid almost half of their asking price for online

That's a pretty poor attitude to be honest. €75 for a GAME is simply rediculous. Do you accept prices at face value simply because that's what they are marked as?
GameStop are a shockingly expensive store and you could have highlighted this to the OP and suggested shopping around or having a look on the Net where the best game prices are usually to be found.

How long exactly (or roughly) Tman? And is shipping really free?

And its kinda hard not to get a new PS3 game. If your gonna spend the guts of money for a used one you might as well get yourself a new game.
If people can afford a PS3 then should be no problem

I find that recently released games such as pro evo an such, can be bought as used games from GAME. I mean you can even buy second hand ps3's.

    No I don't care cos I get a discount. If I didn't I'd get all my games from VG+

A definite vote for MT if you dont mind waiting. my Ratchet and Clank came in 2 weeks. Shipping is free, and recently they have started a voucher campaign where they give customers a voucher for £1 off. Small I know but Its better than nout.

Yeah, I'm very pleased with them. Ratchet & Clank arrived today, so it was just over a week from dispatch.

So in a round-about kinda way, you're saying you have nothing of value to contribute. Good job.

To the OP, HMV and Virgin are generally ones to avoid also. Tescos often offer quite nice prices even for the third party stuff, assuming your local store actually has what you want in stock. Worth a look.

I heard that the most you'll pay in harvey normans for any game is 56euro(excl special editions) so you need to ask yourself is it worth going online for the sake fo 5 euro. I tink tesco are doing a sinilar thing.
