    Hi,
I have just been told my my new gp that I am unsuitable for the pill. She said that because of my migraines ( they effect my eyes) the pill may make them worse and may cause permanent damage. So she told me about a contraceptive implant that goes underneath the skin on your arm.

I am just wondering if anyone else is using this.
Did you bleed for a long time after it was implanted ?
Did you put on much weight
    Did you get acne

The doctor said SOME people get these side effects but I had acne when I was younger and really do not want it to return .

    Thanks

my wife has it, irregular periods, varying from nothing (but the symptoms) to very very heavy flows. She also suffered terrible acne on her back although that has now been sorted with another pill

    Hiya,

I am actually on my second Implanon (they last 3 years) so I have been using it for nearly 4 years. In my experience (obviously different people have different side-effects) what few side effects there are are worth it. For the first year or so you can have irregular periods but they gradually become further and further apart and more regulated over time. I did notice some weight gain in the first year but I don't know if that was anything to do with the Implanon as it was so slight & has since levelled out.... I have done a good bit of research about the Implanon so anything else you would like to know or if you need any links just PM me!

I have my one for nearly for 2 years, i also got mine because of migraines that effect my eyesight. I do get irregular periods ( every 2-3 months) and had some weight gain but not so much that i had to go up a dress size. I've also had some spots from it but again not really bad, i for one would recommend getting it, it beats taking the pill every day :)
As invadernim said above just PM me if you want to ask anymore questions.
My migraines have improved so much since getting it also, i used to get about 5-6 a month now i get 1 or 2 every month and even then they aren't as bad as they used to do.

I had been on Depo Provera for 2 years and had some weight gain and mood swings. No periods though. I switched to Implanon in April and have had no problems. It was sore when I got it in, it's bumpy from scar tissue and it can hurt when I'm lying a certain way. It's all ok though. I was scared it didn't work for a while because I didn't trust it, but it's all fine. I lost most of my Depo weight and my periods are very light and irregular. I get the PMS symptoms though so I still feel fairly natural. I would recommend it.
