they have de facto control already, porsche control the board at VW now.

impossible to say what Wiedeking will do, on the face of it he just want to protect the shared production lines it has with VW and its parts but he's a bit of an eccentric and has already had clashes with VW's management. ie there has been reports that he is against letting Audi and VW brands compete with each other

Porche management have been very successful at turning profits in a niche market and from engineering consultancy. Running a much bigger business with product offerings in almost every segment of the automotive marketplace is a different propositionl. They coud excel at it, but it'll more likely ruin them. Look at what happened mercedes when they tried to turn chrysler around.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Porsche doesn't own VAG yet! But I bet Ferdinand Piëch will see it through as the completion of his life's work

It can be very good or very bad -

Look at Ford / Volvo - Volvo sell alot more cars now and the S40 at least handles very well because of the Ford engineered chassis.

Ford / Jaguar / Aston though - well who wants a Jaguar with Focus switch gear, or an Aston with a Volvo keyring.

Are we going to see great handling Volkswagens and Porsches with Volkswagen ashtrays etc. ( I presume you can still get an ashtray in a new car ?? )

I remember porsche and SEAT doing a sporty ibiza a couple of years ago, maybe there will be a Seat supercar soon, like the Cupra GT.
