Hi there, I've a 1996 Ford Fiesta that was working perfectly until a few weeks ago when the motor for the fan belt went. I now want to sell it for parts as I can't drive it anywhere. Everything else about it is fine - I put a new battery in in July etc. Not sure how to go about selling the car - any ideas? Thanks a mill in advance.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Would you not get a few quotes first to see how much it is to get it up and running again?

You won't get any money selling it for parts yourself, you'd still end up with the chassis and a load of junk.

It might cost around 50 euro for a scrappie to come pick it up.

If your lucky you might find someone that will pick it up for nothing.

1996 Ford Fiesta would be worth around 250 euro in working condition.

Friend of mine in the UK also had a mid 90's Escort that died on him.

He stripped out everything that would make money (elec door mirrors, elec window motors, stereo, alloy wheels etc), flogged it all on ebay. Then got someone who is into banger racing to take the car away (racing guy just needed body & wheels - he stuck a replacement engine in it).

As far as I can remember he made a few quid on all the spares (not to mention the profit on the postage).

That way, you still have to pay scrappy 50 euro (or whatever) to tow it away but at least you have made the money out of the sellable spares.

    Maybe an option for you.
