I live in the centre of the city. Looking in a SW direction, there's what appears to be a flickering star. I saw it from my bed through my window about ten minutes ago and it got me up it looks so weird. I thought its appearance could have been hampered by the glass so I opened the window and stared at it for a good five minutes. It was too small for my phone to get a photo.

My eyesight is quite poor but it definitely looked to have a slight trail or something around it. I think there's currently a cloud in the way just at the moment.

Was a comet expected? Aliens coming to visit us? ;). Or was it just a star that was flickering?

Update: Just turned the lights off and had a look and I'm almost sure I saw something fly across the sky.

I dont think comet Holmes is bright enough to catch someones attention like that, even if it is brighter than normal this time.
