You get a visa when you land in Bangkok airport, you will need to apply for visas however if you intend to travel into neighbouring countries. (easily done in Bangkok)

Get the vaccinations, no point in taking risks and get anti-malaria medication if your travelling to a risk zone. You dont need all vaccations however, I didnt bother with the rabies one for example. When you get the shots you are given a little yellow book to keep as a record of what you got, make sure to keep it, some countries require proof of certain vaccinations (Brazil for example, i needed proof of having the Yellow fever one)
