DAA vacancies

The missus was telling me about a job advertised internally for the DAA. Is it possible for an outsider to apply for internally advertised jobs?

Or is it even possible to see the job spec for these positions?

Or is it only for internal, full stop?

    Thanks :)

If it's only advertised internally at the moment it will be due to a DAA policy and probably due to an agreement with the unions onsite. If this is the case then it's highly unlikely that you'll be able to apply until it is officially advertising it externally.

Note that I have no association with DAA and am speaking generally about typical internal advertisement policy and not specifically about any DAA policy.

I thought all public sector postings had be advertised to all? Isnt the DAA a public sector employer?

Someone else who knows the breakdown will post an explanation but a lot of public sector jobs don't fall under that recruitment umbrella. In fact, once you get outside civil service recruitment I think quite a lot of jobs might need to be internally advertised first.

    Maybe thats it.

I just thought it applied to all jobs be it in the ESB or DAA or what ever

If there's a cap on the amount of people that they are allowed to have, companies sometimes just promote the people that they have to positions.
