Looking at the 6:00 news on RTE I was amused to see the revenue announce that they will be clamping down on goods being brought into Ireland from places outside the E.U.The thing is they say its costing millions each year in lost tax and with the Christmas blitz on in the post service running flat out they are watching.
The funny thing is they show someone from the post office saying they are looking at the goods being brought in and are warning people against importing things that are illegal such as a machete he holds up to the camera then jokes and even if you don’t know how to use one, this one comes with a DVD in how to use one ha ha ha very funny. This is where it gets good he then holds up an mp5 Airsoft and I am sure it was the jing jong version and says nothing implying that this is also on the illegal list.
Very unbalanced point of view how can he tell by holding it if its over 1j that dude should be working in the phoenix park who needs a chronograph just get him to hold it and he can tell you.

I saw that myself, they were talking about illegal items being imported and showed an MP5k for a split second, followed by a huge 36" machete.
Having said that, it may fire over 1 joule, but that's highly unlikely for an MP5k.

My buddies brother works with the Revenue service and has
been telling us for months that there was gonna be a big clamp down.
For the last few weeks anyone I know has been getting hit with customs,
even one or two of the girls in work who order Perfume and lipstick are
getting hit with fees. (fortunately for them their online shop states
if they get hit with customs fees that the shop will refund them!!)

My recent purchase was the first time in over 10 years that
I have been hit with any sort of customs fees.

They charged my for the overall price including shipping.
Part of the price was for a service carried out and not an Item so
I dont know how the manage to include that as part of the charge.

Whats worring me now is that when I got my order it was missing an
item. This is going to be sent on to me as a seperate package.
Customs in theory could charge me for that even though it was
supposed to be part of my original package or could they?

Yep they made the exact same noises last year. Unless you really need it hold off until 2008 for any big purchases.
