Who told you they were in Portlaoise Post office ?? Did the seller provide you with a link to a website for tracking the parcel from china ??

Did you pay using PayPal ??

I bought a Crash Helmet from China last xmas using PayPal and the guy I bought it from on E-bay provided me with a postal tracking link. i was able to track the helmet all the way from china using the website provided. It first arrived in Portlaoise Sorting Office, then to Sandyford Sorting Office in Dublin, and was delivered to my house by An Post the next day. I was not charged or questioned about any customs or exise issues .

yes,the seller provided me with the tracking number.
the thing that concerns me if the customs were going to hold the items.
or will they be released without any problems?
    thanks.

customs might stop them due to their value. most items over a a few hundred euro's require you to pay tax to bring them into the country.

Why would you need ten of them? Are you trying to sell them on? Tsk tsk.

Jeasus the lads in the airsoft forum are forever importing things from hong kong etc! So heres how it will go.

Basically, portlaoise accepts the package, into customs, out of customs, your nearest mail centre, your house. Thats the order.

Customs duty is 21 per cent afaik, if they charge, they may not.

If the seller has specified the value of the item as (in your case) a lot less than they are worth, on the parcel label, the parcel should arrive in a few days. Keep checking the tracking site and if it leaves Portlaoise, and arrives at another Irish Sorting Office, you should be ok, I guess ?

It's hit and miss, I've never been charged for anything I've imported from Columbia, I think it depends on who's on duty that day and how close it is to tea break. I've just been lucky.

it has almost been 2 days since it arrived.
and all i am seeing is the item has been accepted.
most people have said the same as you that it took only one day.
so why is it taking so long with my order?

Pretty sure it is going to be held by customs. I don't know if you were listening to TodayFM this morning, but they had some guy involved in the custom side of things on there talking about people bringing stuff in from none EU countries, especially people buying large quantities of electronic goods (large being more than one), and they are charging something like 30% onto the price the person paid.

They are monitoring what people bring in themselves at airports, and any parcel/package posted from a non European country with a listed value of over 50 quid.

It was on the Ray D'arcy show, so it should be on their podcast by this evening if you want to check out the details the guy was talking about.

Aren't they mean ol bastards all the same. You'd think they'd give us a break for Christmas, it could be like the governments present to the people but no instead they decided to be anal about it and ruin any bargains we found.
