Sorry to say but the PS3 does not have wireless, the only console that comes with a built in wireless card is the Wii.

Recon, that is lies. The PS3 does have built in wifi. Don't listen to that ****e The-Rafalution.

edit: It will work with WPA also.

All of the currently available PS3 models do have wi-fi (802.11g). Only the US 20gb was built without it. The PS3 should pick up your wireless network without much hassle assuming your security settings are all okay. Not sure about WPA support etc but I'm sure someone here can help with all that.

I've had the ps3 on a secured wifi router ,speed is fine.

To be honest ,the ps3 is acutally better at wifi than my laptop.

It's not very browser friendly ,I haven't actually found a standard browser. Just a sony shop window type browser

The browser is good enough to view sites with images. It has a flash plugin but I think it's only compatible with Flash 7 and below so alot of sites where you can watch clips and trailers don't really work.

If you want to browse to any site just load the Internet Browser from the XMB and press Start once it's loaded to type in a URL

Not sure what you mean by "full" but it has a web browser independent of the PSN store. Seems fairly competent to me. Think it's based on some mobile browser, maybe Opera. Flash support is probably not all there though but at least that's open to updating in the future.

Works fine with my Eircom netopia router, set up was very easy.

You can enable flash in the settings, I presumed that was for the web browser?

Wireless on ps3 is fine for using the browser. Youre better off using that ethernet cable supplied if you want to download a demo or something. Istill took me 2 hours to download gt concept wit my 1mb broadband

what is peoples obsession with using a wired connection for downloading demo's?

how fast is your internet connection exactly? mines 3mbps which is considerably slower than any wifi connection unless you have several feet of brick walls between your PS3 and your wifi router and it's not connecting as fast as it should be.

your download speed is limited by the slowest component of your connection which for the vast majority of irish users on domestic internet connections is the connection itself.

of course, having said that, the wifi will make you impotent and all your hair will fall out, but you're downloads will be just fine. ;)

My broadband is 1mb/sec so downloads take forever. When just playing online i use the wireless.Dont know why i just assumed day1 that wired is a lot faster for downloads

by XMB I mean the Cross Media Bar. It's the horizontal bar with icons when you boot up the PS3. Just select the 2nd last icon on the right and under that there should be something to open the Internet Browser

the browser is very slow though it must be said! Firefox on YDL goes much much faster. Although if the game os can support divx soon i wouldn't be too bothered installing YDL on it.

Just be carefull, It took me a while to get the wireless to work. I had the same problem with both PSP's and the PS3. Any laptop would connect fine but the Sony stuff would not. Connecting was not the problem, it was DNS in the end. The DHCP server supplied the DNS address of the router. For some reason the sony devices could not work with this?? In the end i assigned the DHCP server on the router to give out ISP DNS address. Eircoms did not work, im with Perlico so i used indigo's old DNS 194.125.133.10/11 Worked a treat after that.
    I have a Zyxel prestige 600 series.

give the DNS servers at www.opendns.com ago if you have any more problems. I've always found them much more cooperative.

am thinking of moving to perlico broadband. Do you know if it works with the ps3? . I am hooked up wirless at the mo and would like to stay that way thanx

any broadband should work with the PS3. ask them if they do a wireless router and how much it costs (or look on their website), altho there's been some horror stories about perlico (as with most BB providers) so choose carefully.

Had you read my post, two posts up you would see im using perlico :D
It does not matter what sort of internet connection you use... you could plug it in to an ISDN router and it would work

This might be a stupid question but it has to be asked. Is the perlico router actually wireless?
If not, use the netopia. Its not very hard to reconfigure it.

plug your pc/laptop into it. Browse to (internet browser) http://192.168.1.254
Go to expert mode and there is a section in there for entering the username/password. On some models it will come up straight away and ask you to enter the username/password. Probably best to just go to the start page and enter yourself so you can save and reboot. Once done replace the perlico router, if it does not work you can always go back to the perlico one.
Leave all the other settings because they should be the same.

As for the perlico router, perhaps the wireless signal is not good enough. Then again, it could be too good and set to Super G or G+ or something the ps3 can not handle.

The Ps3 does not have as good a receiver as a laptop so needs a stronger signal. Also the PS3 is usually under a TV on a shelf etc so the signal has to get through obstacles.

**edit: actually go here and it will give you some help.
I myself installed a cable and patch point into my living room because the wireless was unreliable where i have my ps3.
