    Hi Lads ,

I am flying into Bangkok for a month and and flying out of Bangkok 30 days later.
Here's what I intend to do and was looking for any advise as to what to do.

Bangkok to Koh Tao --- Koh Chang --- Angkor Wat --- Phnom Penh --- Laos to Chang Mai and back for our flight to bangkok. Is any part of this journey very complicated. Is this a feasible journey or who anybody do it in reverse order.

    Any input would be great

    Thanks...

    Kevin...

    Hey Kevin-

    All feasible yup.

If going to Koh Chang this is a nice relaxing place

Koh Chang doesn't have an airport (I think). So maybe think about going to Krabi (stay on Railegh beach) , or Phi Phi or Phuket (bit touristy..) instead (although Porns bungalows can't be beaten!). Then you can fly (www.airasia.com) direct into Phnom Penh. Stay a few days exploring the place, then fly up to Siem Reap (airasia again I think - if you do 3 flights you can get the 3 country passport ticket). Siem Reap is great (Angkor Wat bar!!! in town ) woo hoo. You can visit Angkor easily from Siem Reap. 3 day pass (prob all ya need is about 60 USD). Sort your accomodation before arriving into Siem Reap, or you'll be dragged somewhere by a moto driver working on commission. (try http://www.talesofasia.com/). Temples are great - but after 3 days, you'll prob had had enough. Think it's prob easier to go to Chiang Mia before you go to Laos. Chiang Mia to Bangkok is quite a drive maybe 5/6 hours (or if you do a 'luxury tour bus' they take forever, and drag you to all sorts of gem factories and tourist markets....)

let me kbnow if you have any questions - enjoy the trip...

As far as i can see all very doable, only one change I would make is to get a taxi from Phnom Penh to Siam Reap , i did it the other way and it cost me $40 so something in or around the same ain't gonna break the bank and you get to see a lot more than a few airports.

When in Siam reap I stayed in Evergreen guesthouse , up bar street , after the irish bar go left , striaght for 100 yards then RHS look out for the sign. Good clean rooms with AC worked out @ €8 / night.:D

It does'nt really matter what way you approach Laos/Chaing mai end of your trip , you can fly from Siam Reap to Vientiane ( and get outa there real quick its a ****hole) then bus to Viang Viane , raft etc for a day or two , Bus to Luang Prabang , day or two there , slow/fast boat to Chaing Kong , then bus to Chaing Mai, if your running out of time when you get to Chaing mai , fly to BKK.

Be warned the slow boat up the Meekong is SLOOOOW and it'll take ya 2 days with a stop in a well dodgy town overnight whilst the fast boat is something the UN should investigate on the grounds of torture!!! it was hell!!

Anyway you'll have a ball !! Any chance you'll post me back a bottle of Beer Lao?!!!!;)

So maybe think about going to Krabi (stay on Railegh beach) .

i COMPLETELY agree with this. that is the most amazing part of thailand i was in. and its not too touristy either. just the most gorgeous place ive ever been (and it was raining when i was there!)

Yeah doable, but tbh you'll get tired, travelling can be tough in Cambodia and LAOS, cool places but its damn hot, some towns are ****holes and some are well dodgey or at least feel like it anyway. You need to pace yourself and take nice breaks in between travelling and relax and have a good time, personally i'd go to Phi Phi and Phuket then LAOD into Chiang mai onto Cambodia then back to Bangkok

Some Great info, thanks a million lads,

    Two quick questions

In relation to getting from Koh Chang to Phnom Penh what is the best way of doing that , I had a look on a few websites and the road looks awful, all part of the adventure I suppose. !!!!!

Hows does one get from Koh Toa over to Koh Chang across the Thail Peninsula, is there a boat.

    Thanks

    Kevin.......

For getting from Chiang Mai to Bangkok (and possibly for other parts of your journey) try Thai Air Asia (www.airasia.com). I found them to be very cheap. The flight is only an hour long and a much better option than the 13 hour train journey...unless you want the experience of the train and its associated disco carriage!!

Loved Chiang Mai, best part of Thai except for Phi Phi. I took the over night train which took 13 hours or so, if your going dont make the mistake I did and not bring booze. Everyone else was on the batter and could sleep then but me and the mot where sober and awake all night! apart from that was an experience. Rent out one of the little cabins for 2 which is alot better and bring a stereo!!

all very doable, but if i were you, i would keep the islands- one or two max, no need for more- for the end, so you can just chill out and relax for the last few days before going home

From Koh Chang - you're gonna have to fly from Bangkok to get to Phnom Penh. That's why we said maybe look at Krabi or Phi Phi instead, as there is a direct air link from these 2 places, but not from Chang.....Chaing Mai is a nice place for treking etc - try to avoid going to the Karen long neck tribe villages tho. I'll let you read up on it, and then decide for yourself.

or go by road. 2 options, coast or inland. we did inland so count a good long days travelling. coast appears a lot shorter but from what we heard the road is pretty poor (might have changed as this is 4 years ago) and the road we took inland was basically a dirt trail most of the time so was one hell of a bumpy ride. If flights are cheap enough, get a plane, even though the bus is a great way to see the amazing scenery
