Just reading a good book on Dub,
Michael Vell - Dub (Scattered Songs and Soundscapes in Jamacian Music)
What are your opinions on Dub?
    Recommendations?

I'm into it a good bit now and mostly the King Tubby
and his protegees Scientist and Prince Jammy are really
    good stuff to start with.
Lee Perry also but choose your albums carefully.
Keith Hudson and Tappa Zukie and Augustus Pablo
    all good too.

    :D

Lee Scratch Perry's Arkology 3CD box is more than essential.

on a less obvious note, you should really investigate the whole berlin minimal techno / drone soundscape / electronic dub axis.

basic channel / maurizio / rhythm and sound

the rhythm and sound stuff is absolutely brilliant dub made with the studio skills of the finest engineers in germany with a techno aesthetic to their production, so you get warm hissy crackly saturated soundscapes and the full frequency weight in the basslines, it's essential stuff. check www.bleep.com for their stuff.

irish producer "calibre" put a great dub tune called "drinnahilly" on his "second sun" lp on signature - you should be able to pick the cd up for 7.99 from www.chemical-records.co.uk
