Ryanair baggage question

I'm flying to Berlin in December for christmas shopping. I'm not checking in a bag on the way over, but do plan on buying lots and bringing it back, so will probably have to check a bag in coming home.

Any ideas what the charges will be??

best of luck with this.i vowed never to fly with ryan air again after my last experience,having to pay €500 to bring two small cases of cds over from dublin to gatwick.had to pay €350 then from gatwick and coming home i wasnt charged at all coz i didnt fly with ryan air...

what was their excuse for the charges? Weight or something??

yeh they raped me for every single kilo i was over!i had no choice but to pay it though.and it turned out to be a waste of money coz i ended up coming home a week later for what should have been a gud summer job!

Well I can sort of understand, if you were over the 15kg limit.


I haven't applied/paid for this yet, so just wondering how they'd handle it? Just charge me the €12 for checking in a bag under the 15kg limit??

Yep. When you go to check in, they'll ask you have you any bags to check in. You'll tell them, and the check in assistant (?) will tell you where to go to pay the €12 (or whatever).

yeh i understood i would have to pay, but charging me for every single kilo was a bit much.they coulda said ok we will leave it at 200 or whatever,it was only a flight to gatwick anyway not like i was flying to australia...instead they are just money grabbing whores...

I dont mean any offence, but business is business, if there is money to be made a good business man will make it, and MOL is a good business man.

And you may say you will never fly ryaniar again but the time will come that you need to...

nah theres plenty more airlines out there i can use,why would you fly with ryan air anyway are they really that much cheaper when all the hidden costs are included?do you know how much my flight home from greece was with another airline?€15,im not jokin u,the taxi ride to the airport cost more!

and also, it would have worked out cheper for me had i purchased another 3 or 4 seats on the plane...i fail to see how that makes any sense?!

i did i phoned up some international number which is there customer services, was waiting about 10 minutes to talk to a rep and the call costs about €1.50 per minute.they get you every way they can!
am i the only one that despises them?!

Took me about 15 seconds to find. Didn't cost a penny.

If you paid €500 in excess baggage fees, that meant you were carrying over 60kg of excess. And you're whining about it?

hence the reason i had to phone customer services,and it being an international call centre in germany or something, it cost alot of money because they didnt have the information on their website.t

im not whining about it.im making a comment that i wont be flying with them again.and im not the only one who thinks that it was ridiculous having to pay so much,it was over 50kg fair enuf,i had to bring cds over because i was djing abroad but whatever the rules are regarding "made up" people and bags, im simply saying that i would have saved money if i had booked more seats and that shouldnt make any sense.
if i was to bring 4 people with me and gave the baggage to them in equal 15kg quantities, then i would have only had to pay for the seats,which as i am saying would have worked out cheaper.
i am also saying that i was only flying from dublin to gatwick and as that is only a short flight then that should have been factored in.

the amount of hidden charges and extras (other than excess baggage)that they include are phenominal,and if im not mistaken there is something being done about that factor at the moment...

collhandc, we all despise the hidden charges but without being funny there are plenty of other airlines who go from Dublin to gatwick and you chose to go with Ryanair

The Ryanair excess baggage fees are so much because they don't want you to bring that much. Its a punititive fee. I can't seriously believe you were unaware of Ryanair's policies.

I'm not sure anybody is truely happy with Ryanair but they are what they are. If you want a cheap flight you may get it. What you won't get is flexibility and understanding

i couldnt fly with another airline because i had to get the quickest flight i could,and that was from gatwick,but im just remembering that ryan air were the only ones that flew to gatwick or somethin so i ad no choice...

It's there in the chart that you actually quoted from: Stg£5.50or €8.00 per kilo

As far as I know its 12 euro plus 3 euro admin charges. I forgot to book my bags on line so I will have to go through this tomorrow. I assume I just go up to the Ryanair desk with my bags and pay through the nose for them!
