How long does a PS3 firmware update take?

Hi. My little brother is the proud owner of a shiny new PS3, firmware 1.55, but has no broadband connection at his place so he's coming to mine to update. Does anyone know how long the firmware takes to download?

You can download it via a PC from Playstation.com and install it via an external harddisc, as far as I know.

Depending on the update and your connection, it should download via the PS3 in a matter of minutes.
