Slightly concerned...

Right so I've my tongue pierced for over two weeks...all going fine and dandy on the piercing side...except I've just swallowed my second bar.

Yes, second.

In the space of 4 days.

The first one the ball obviously came loose overnight and I swallowed in my sleep; the second just now while I was eating. Emmm...should I be worried? Both were titanium standard tongue bars...

Really though, should I be concerned? I know people do swallow them frequently, but I'm worried that this is my second in such a short space of time...it's hardly good for my digestive system...? Help!

I wouldnt worry, its very unlikely it would damage your digestive system due to its size, also the fact that its smooth so theres no chance it tearing anything

Hehehe that's funny!! Sorry ... nah don't worry you're fine. You're feelin ok right?! Well then don't worry, it happens all the time. I've been lucky so far thank God!! But I heard of this happening lots. I dunno how relevant this is but apparently when people swallow...ermm...say glass for example they're advised to eat banannas!! So just eat a bananna a day for like a week!!! Worth a try eh?!

you'll prob be fine, it mostly just means the bar is slightly the wrong size and the balls aren't been put on tight enough, I've not swallowed any yet but bit my fave ball and shattered it!

I'm not too sure on the risk of the bars obstructing your digestive tract OP but considering their size I doubt there's much risk. As for the risk of a chemical reaction in your tum you shouldn't have to worry as Titanium is pretty resistant to corrosion by acids.

make sure the balls are tighter next time, ive had my tongue piercing for about 9months now, never swallowed a ball, change them about once a week (to clean the ball that gets the build up on it)

yep, i've mine over a year never swallowed any of it, barre the shattering incident... :P

Yup I've had mine for nine months too, never swallowed a bar! Nearly did once but that's it. I'd probably be freakin' out too if I did but don't worry, I'm sure it's all fine!

I swallowed the whole bar after changing it- both balls, shaft, and all (oh holy god did I just really type that).

I'm still here! Now I wear rubber gloves when tightening the balls and I haven't lost one since.

I've had mine about 8-9 years now and don't think I've tighten the balls or taken it out in the last five.

I switched to acrylic balls. Had my tongue pierced for about 4 years and didn't swallow anything in the last 3 and a half years. Get the Wildcat ones. They're very durable. I had the same set for absolutely ages even though I bit down on it a few times. On metal ones the threads always seem to get wrecked if it's taken out even once.
