    Rest of them (for now)

First time attempting band pics, there is a slight blur in them due to low lighting etc..

    (be kind!) :p;)

I know nothing about gig photography so I'll leave the C&C to the experts...

But about the shutter speed and light - I'm assuming you're using the 50mm f1.8? And ISO was jacked up as well? But you still couldn't get a high enough shutter speed to stop the motion blur?

Could you provide some technical info about the shots: ISO, aperture and shutter speed?

I'm interested because I'm looking to buy a f1.8 for lowlight use and wonder what kind of speeds I would be getting in these situations. Thanks.

Nice pics, it's a pitty about the blur though, Maybe you should have used a 50mm f1.8, just for extra clarity and less "blur", I like the first pic a lot, could possibly benefit if you cropped in on it just a tad.

your gonna struggle with anything abouve 2.8 in gigs, especially with the pub sorta oneslike these.Niceshots for first attempt. Now to critique

    1. its too dark, not enough action in the photo, all ya can see is a group of people in darkness. lead singer is facing down, it shows no energy, ya need a mouth open singing or something like a guitar in the air.

2.Nice capture, with a better lens this would have been great, guitar looks a bit odd and the obvious blur, maybe sharpen and bring out some more detail in the bw convo

    3. Well shot but as i said, mouth closed holding guitar...bit bland, and sepia???:p

    4. poor detail again

overall ya need a better lens, 50mm 1.8 would do wonders, and maybe try go for a bit more energy in the shots.

I dontlike being critical of shots, but this sorta stuff helped me wonders. look back at myolder posts,my early stuff was woeful, you doing better than i did first time

Second is the best but like people have said, the 50mm 1.8 is very very nice.

And thrid Fox, with a 1.8, depending on where the gig is (for lighting etc) you can get some pretty high shutter speeds. I've shoot some at 320 and 500 (Tripod if i remember correct, also the ******* where they had a spot light)
