I just saw the report on RTE saying that Birmingham Council have just withdrawn their funding, €50,000, to the Irish Club. There was an 81 year old Irish man living in terrible conditions, you really would not let a dog live like the way he was!

I wrote an email to Birmingham council so in case anyone else saw the report and feels like sending an email here is the address: contact@birmingham.gov.uk

Mods feel free to move, thanks.

Did'nt see the report, does this chap have a pension?

Maybe the Irish government could look after Irish emigres a bit better.

    Mike.

The report didnt mention a pension but he probably does have a state pension which would be very little. The poor man had to change his colostomy bag downstairs because he couldnt make it up the stairs to the bathroom!

Apparently the Dept. of Foreign Affairs sends €12-€15m over to England in grants for the Irish living there. Whether much of that money gets to the people who need it the most is doubtful.
