Sky HD Activation

Hi all, I have a SKY HD box on the way from England should arrive later this week, what I was wondering is when its installed and I ring Sky to get my old card paired to the new box, do I have to ask for Sky+ to be activated or will all its functions work automatically once the card is in the box?

Likewise for the HD Channels does Sky have to set my box up for it? (I won't be subscribing to the HD package, I'm happy with BBC HD and Channel 4 HD for free)

I am too in this situation.Getting a hd box off ebay.have a standard sky subscription.Do i just ring up sky and change over the account?

Do they get suspicious about where you got the box from or anything?

Tell them you bought it from an independent dealer. Nothing wrong with that.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused by this - I'm still on NTL analogue but wanting to upgrade to digital (not sure about which way to go yet).

You have ordered a Sky HD box for (449+45) yet you will not be subscribing to HD. I'm not trying to be funny but why?
Is BBC HD available on an ordinary mix?

Of course this is a matter of opinion, but my opinion is that it's not worth £10/€15 per month for the SkyHD subscription, which is why I've just cancelled mine (after 3 weeks of having it). It's just crap. I could watch everything except Sports (due to my chosen package), and honestly, it's not worth it. Not everything on Sky HD channels is even HD. I'm disappointed not only with the content, in fairness, but with the quality. Yes, HD is clear - but it's not as fantastic as I've heard it described. HD and non-HD is like comparing DVD and VHS (again, in my opinion). Now I had better leave it there before I get slapped for going off topic.

    Which 'mix' is it in?

Its not in any mix. All BBC channels are free to air on satellite. as are all ITV channels.
