Dead Legs?

    Hi guys,

At a recent comp (11th Nov) I took a whopper low kick that dropped me to the canvas (well, the one two in the face afterwards didn't help). After the fight my leg seized up and became incredibly painful. Its eased off a good bit now and I can walk around normally and climb stairs with no difficulty etc. Problem is is that I can't run or hop around on my feet. I guess its normal but I've never had something like this last so long. Usually after a few days its gone but its still here.

Should I be exercising on it? I've been dying to get back to the gym but I don't know if I should be doing anything on it. Any advice would be great!

    Thanks

Could be some ligament damage there. I'd suggest checking in with your GP.

It just feels like the strength is gone in the leg. If I move after sitting or lying in one position after a while I get a dull pain in the muscle. It all feels very muscular and the pain has become more familiar (i.e. I've felt pain like this before after low kicks) over the past week.

What competition was this? 9 days is a pretty long time for the ache of a good leg kick not to have gone away. Have you been rubbing arnica on it? That's supposed to be good for bruising. You could have a deep bruise and even your bone is bruised so to speak, have you been completely resting since or still doing bits and pieces? That will delay your recovery.

Knock down Knock Out Karate over in Belgium. I haven't rubbed arnica on it to be honest, probably should, it took down my black eye very quick. Its not so much an ache, as I'm sitting here my leg feels normal. Its just in the evening times it begins to get sore. Its prob due to the walking and sitting on hard chairs in college.

I've done pretty much nothing but I'm on my feet for a lot of the day so it probably doesn't help.
