I am very interested in becoming an inspector in my subject are. There are no jobs advertised on publicjobs.ie. or on the department website. Does anyone know where they are advertised? What are the minimum qualifications require - do you need a masters or a phD? Whats the salary? Thanks for your help in advance

I would imagine lots of experience at all aspects of the SEC and in all types of schools might help. Course Committees, exam correction, exam drafting, exam setting, implementation of new courses - that sort of thing.

While I haven't asked friends of mine straight out, I don't think the salary is much better than teaching.

and holidays are obviously lot worse and remember you will spend your days going into schools where people won't exactly be running up to talk to you.....

The inspectorate are often seen as refugees from the classroom.

All reports are done from a template, and some small fault is compulsory.

Why subject yourself to the drudgery?

secondment to ncca seems a good way to get out of the classroom but no way the inspectorate, its so strict the way they are monitored that it appears the inspectorate is inspected themselves
