Double FITA-18

This may be an unmanageable suggestion but... for those archers competing in an Intervarsity who want to.. is there any way that they can shoot the double FITA and submit the first FITA score for their University.. There could be a proviso that the full 120 arrows need to be shot to allow the score to count if people are worried that these archers might take advantage of the opportunity to shoot with a short break.. what do you think...

The intervarsity shoots are only 60 arrow shoots so anyone shooting 120 arrows would have to either half their score or just take two ends of 30. If they go for the latter you would have to decide on which ends they would have to take, either they could take the two highest or take the first two.

I think the intervarsity shooters would have it easier. They usually have an hour and a half break between their two ends.

I reckon shooting a double FITA is grand, but only the first 2 rounds count towards the IV score. Otherwise the archer has essentially 30 sighters between rounds.

But other than that there shouldn't be a problem.

Guest shooters have been coming along and shooting the 120 for a long time so i dont think its unmanagable. The only other issue would be space availability in the smaller halls because one individual is occupying a place that is usually split between 2 people over the course of the day. And of course everyone agreeing on the first two rounds being entered for their respective teams.

In the past people who wanted to shoot all day were allowed shoot 1st, 3rd and 4th rounds. With the first and third counting for the IV and the 4th just for fun.

Because of the large break between rounds in IV's it is an advantage to keep shooting as your muscles will remain warm and you won't be stuffed after eating half a Pizza (thanks a million DCU for them, they were great BTW)

Therefore someone who shoots all 4 and puts the first and second scores forward will be at an unfair advantage.
