Any other old fogies going to this? Can't bleedin wait. The George Best Tour with them playing every song from the original album plus a few classics like Brassneck, Kennedy etc.

If you were to get one Wedding Present album would it be the George Best one? There's a "Best Of" out as well I think?

I remember them when I was more into the Baggy and Shoegazing scenes, but never never heard more than a few songs. Know of any websites with sample mp3s to hear more?

George Best is good but not their best imo. I would recommend Bizarro and Seamonsters to get started. Some of their best stuff on those two. I'm not aware of sites with samples mp3s but most of their stuff was re-released a while back and is pretty cheap on Amazon.

I bought Bizarro yesterday. Loverly stuff. Only heard their version of "Red Shoes by The Drugstore" by Tom Waits before. What album would you recommend to totally enjoy the gig?

Well the gig is a celebration of their first album George Best and they play every song in order from that album. Some excellent songs on that and I fully expect a crowd of 30 somethings moshing to jangly guitars. I'll be taking it easy by the bar though. I'm fairly certain Brassneck and Kennedy will be in there too so if you have Bizarro you'll know them. Back in the day I used to go to the Panic Disco in McGonagles (yes I am that old) and someone always brought along the Kennedy 7inch for the DJ to play. It was my first introduction to them. Ah the memories.

Thanks for that. Tower don't have it, is it still in print?

I'm not sure if it's still in print. It was re-released some time ago called George Best Plus with extra songs. You may find it on one of those dubious Russion mp3 sites. Who knows.
