    HI everyone,

Just wondering what your opinion is on a driving route i have to start taking to work.

I live near Grand Canal Dart station and have to get to industrial estate just behind the Red Cow hotel on Ballymount Road.

I was thinking of heading down the canal, down crumlin road, down long mile, left and then through Walkinstown raodabout.

I was wondering what the canal is like in the morning??

Or would it be better to go down long mile road, but instead of going to roundabout go straight onto Naas road and left just after the hotel??
Is walkinstown roundabout as bad as people say timewise?

    Thanks for any help

56A bus leaves from Ringsend bus station and passes through Ballymount estate from Walkinstown roundabout to ; this should get you into work handy enough if you are willing to bus it. Long Mile Road and most of Crumlin Road and Cork Street are bus lanes so you should move handy enough up it.

Driving, I'd suggest you go to Adelaide Road, SCR to Clogher Road (first left after Griffith College), straight up it till Crumlin Hospital. Take the left here, then left at the Halfway House pub in Drimnagh; this takes you up to Walkinstown cross and you are into Ballymount. Alternatively, head up the Long Mile Road and take the left into Robinhood Estate, leading you into Ballymount and the back of Red Cow. Either route is the same in and out and will flow well enough for the most part.

Avoid the canal in and out at al costs.

The canal is always bad, yep. You may have pinch points on Adelaide Road sometimes, but the traffic on it moves off around Kelly's corner and flows ok. For the whole trip, I'd allow about 50 minutes.

Westbound AM : Canal blocks at Rathmines [ because of muppets blocking from Mount Pleasant doing the left on to canal and right turn to Portobello and obstructing flow of traffic ]

and Harolds X usually because of sheer volume north-south.

Most of the rest flies along.

In reverse it can usually fly into town but expect outside Our Lady's Hospital to be crowded and Canal at Rathmines [ this time you're advised to left at Harolds X and onto SCR over to Ranelagh, left onto Dartmouth Rd, out onto Leeson St back over onto Canal ]
