    Hi
I wonder if second hand equipment is charged in the same way as brand new?
I've found a lens in USA at a good price and I'd like to have it sent by post (UPS)
if second hand goods still pay 21% on top of everything I'd think it twice

You still have to pay duty & VAT on used equipment. You only pay on the actual price you paid plus any shipping charges.

UPS (United Parcel Service) is a premium courier company.

USPS is the United States Postal Service (post).

    it's UPS (confirmed)
but anyway, will it make any difference?

UPS have their own clearance house, so it's very likely you'll be charged VAT, depending on the price of your goods.

Yes UPS will clear it through customs and the driver will collect the charge from you. The usually ring you in advance to let you know how much it is.

I have bought a lens and a bag from the US, second hand from private sellers, they were shipped by USPS (not UPS) and neither attracted any customs charges. both were declared at actual cost and insured for same, though maybe i was just lucky!
