firstly i am a big terrance malick and have thuroughly enjoyed his most recent work(the thin red line, the new world)so decided to check out his earlier stuff and decided to start with this, i also have days if heaven to watch during the week also....

i think what aspect that i found most prominent early on was the cinematography, its beautiful to look at and one still that stands out in my mind is the last shot in the scene where sissy spacek's father was painting a sign on a road where he was talking to martin sheen telling him to stay away from his daughter

i don't think i have watched a movie where i i have laughed so much and felt so bad for doing so afterwards

its also a great journey for develping a character-from starting out feeling sorry for a simple man that could well be misunderstood by most and have a big heart, to being a ruthless killer without a conscience

anybody else seen recently at all?

Days of Heaven is a masterpiece. It's all about the mood created by the cinematography and music. A really beautiful movie.

Check out David Gordon Green's movies especially All The Real Girls. Very similar to Terence Malick.

Love Badlands. Second Malick film I saw, after The Thin Red Line. Now check out Days of Heaven. It's also incredible.

Absolutely loved Badlands, I found the music in it so haunting, really good film. You should read about the true story its based on, thats pretty interesting and scary too!

That piece of xylophone music has been stuck in my head for about 13 years now. :(
