Nokia E65 making Internet Calls

    Hello,

I have a Nokia E65 on three. One of the features that I want to use is the Internet calling. I have a wireless router at home, and use blueface as my SIP provider.

The phone is configured correctly, and I can make calls, but regularly, the call gets dropped. I make a call and get through to the person and during the conversation it just drops as if I hung up. I dont think there is any problem with the signal, as I am right beside the wireless router.

There is a firmware update for the phone, but when I try to download it using the Nokia updater it tells me that there is no update available for my phone.

I also do not think it is a problem with blueface, because I have an IP phone as well, and the problem never occurs on this phone.

    Any help would be appreciated.

that is odd. my e61 used to crash while making internet calls, a few firmware upgrades later it doesn't anymore but still slightly more dropped calls than on my cisco 7960g

I've not used mine for any SIP calls, only the Three Skype client and fring, but that firmware update from Nokia will not work until Three release their own hacked version of it.

Did it actually crash / reboot, or just hang up? Mine just hangs up. I can then make another call immediately afterwards.

Is it possible that your router or ATA is stealing the registration of your SIP provider from your E65. How have you Blueface set up in your home. Most SIP providers won't let you register from 2 locations simultaneously. Just a thought...

You could be right there. I think I am using a different user alias for each of the devices, but I will double check that. Thanks.

i register with my 2 phones at the same time and it works pretty good, they both ring when someone calls it just gets a bit messed up when one calls the other. i think the IP phone can call the E61 but if i try it the other way around it does ring but when they answer i don't hear anything

For this work ok - you have to login to your blueface account and choose which device to terminate your calls to, or you can create a second SIP account on blueface and then use that account for your E65, remember to terminate the call to your mobile device. I am using this setup and works great 4 me. In fact, I am using three SIP providers on the E65 at the same time, all I have to do is register which ever service I want to use at the time.
