    Hello fellow board members,

I am in a little bit of a pickle. My daughter has here heart set on a Pink DS from Santa. I shopped around everywhere in Limerick for one (HMV, Argos, Symths, Havery Norman, xtravision, gamestop, game) and none of the shops mentioned have them in stock.

I have also checked the following places online:

    Pixmana
    Play
    Blahdvd
    Komplett.

I know I could order one from ebay but I would perfer a pal version if possible.

Can any of ye recommend any other place to try that I may of missed?

Any comments would be welcome! (besides you should have bought it earlier - cos I know:)

    Thanks
    james.

No such thing as a PAL DS, James.... you can buy it anywhere in the world. The only issue is that you will need to buy an EU charger (which can be bought in Smyths, Gamestop, Game etc.)

There is no spec difference so between the two? (taking aside the voltage difference).

    Cheers,
    James

    James,
I bought a white DS in Smyths, Parkway, last Thursday and they had some pink ones in stock. As the stuff is flying out daily you need to check each morning, games too. They won't answer the phone either; too busy.

According to the Smyths site they have them in stock in Cork.

If you don't mind buying a Jap one then I've bought from this crowd and they seem reliable:

Do you by anychance have a brother/brother in law that works for a courier company. He was into Smyths HO here today. Our software buyers are going to try and get one to Limerick for him.

Cheers for the replies. Really, appreciate them. I was thinking about importing one all right but if I do, will I be hit for tax and duty on the shipment?

Unfortunately, I do not have any brother \ brother that works for a courier company. Where are you based workaccount? I might be able to get somebody to help me out with a delivery.

Again, thanks for all your help,
    James

Some things will get tagged for duty...most won't.

I work in Smyths HO, Galway.

    Cheers,
    James.

You can't actually get them to hold one from the website. You can reserve one on the site and then if they don't have it they will give you a €10 voucher. (strange system I know). I don't actually work in the store so I can't get them to hold it for you. HO is completely seperate.

After just checking the system there are currently two in stock at the Galway store. Ring Stephen at software now and he might hold one for you 091-561520

There is currently one in childers road actually. Please bear in mind though that the system is not always 100% accurate (part of the reason for stocktakes). I have just checked that now in the last five minutes....so act quick. Childers road number is 061-446310. Stores are open until 11 tonight.

Thanks for your help, I will let you how I get on:)

PM me your name if there is none there this evening and I will get them to hold one for you as there is an order of 400 coming in the next few days. Just spoke to software buyer there.

You will def. get one anyway.

Just wanted to add that fair play to workaccount. He really came through. I picked up my pink ds yesterday evening. I can relax a small bit now.

    Pink DS for your daughter?
    Why be so gender sterotypical?

You don't want your daughter growing up to be one of those really annoying "girlie girls".

She'll have a pink fiesta with a pink steering wheel and playboy Bunny stickers all over it - I've seen these things around.

Jaytee, she likes pink and wants pink. If she asked for black/white/silver I would get her one in that colour. Certainly far easier to get.

Guys. I did a big favour for djsim. I can't be hassling the buyers getting them to reserve stuff for me. If you go into your local smyths you should be able to put your name down and they will reserve. There are new batches coming in every week or so.

    Sorry.

    Workaround,
Thats great to hear. I spent last night trying to get through to my nearest two smyths(couldn't get through) and a ken blacks(no more this side of xmas). So was worried that there would be no more available in time for the day.

Also been trying to get a pink one for my daughter and to say that I don't beleive in sterotypes and pink for girls but she has three brothers who have ds's in black and my thinking is if she has one they will not bother looking for theirs and play hers but if its pink I think it will be left to her to play no problem. Peace on Christmas day (no harm in hoping)

If you cant get a pink one , theres always the option of getting a white DS and either a pink cover
(example of somthing similar here )

    or some sort of skin
