    Goin to australia in 3weeks.
anyone know a good rental company and what i should do
    about insurance over there.
Should i get my insurance transferred or pay extra to do
    so overthere.
I see one company charge AU 35 perday for full cover tho that
seems a bit much for three weeks.
The overall cost varies quite a bit from one firm to another especially
    between thrifty and europcar.

u can compare prices with travelsupermarket.com
i went with alamo which was the cheapest. didn't bother with the extra insurance, never do. just the basic one that's included with the price

Lotsa good campervan rentals for reasonable prices.
Tax/Insurance there is combined as rego, and it's cheap compared to home.
You can choose to add comp insurance if you wish.

I have just booked 9 days (Toyota Corolla) with Avis for AUD$295. That includes “Loss Damage Waiver” insurance, but not “Excess Reduction”, which leave me with almost 4k of an excess. To reduce that to zero costs AUD$23 per day. Seems a bit much. I checked Hertz and they are almost identical.
I am going to pay the extra insurance – I suppose it depends on how risk adverse you are.

BTW, I got better rates calling the Oz offices than on the web or via the Irish phone numbers. Got bless Skype for cheap call rates
