    wthout getting back into
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055022531&highlight=train+ticket+fine

the same thing happened to me - i sent my fine in and thought that was that. i recieved a summons in sombdy else's name about 3 months later for fare evasion. rang connolly station a few times couldnt get through to the relevant office left messages to no avail.

I sent a registered letter with the summons (i still have a copy) to them asking what the situation was. They rang back to say they had no record of me paying my fine. I had no record of sending it. It was agreed verbally if i dropped down and paid the fine the case would be dropped. I had moved into town since so it was a few days before i got down to connolly to pay the fine. This was returned to me a week later on the basis that i had been convicted of fare evasion and was out of their hands.

So... can i be convicted in court without recieving a summons? I have made all reasonable attempts to pay the fare & fine - what are the mechanics / cost of trying to have this quashed ?

    Any advice / experiences welcome
    Thanks
